I like this app. On occasion it makes the difference between choosing to use the train or not. One plus is that, unlike Trainline, there are no booking fees. And, despite 'belonging' to Northern, you can buy tickets for travel in any part of the country. Finally, I like that you can select routes to show in the Live Tracker based on your recent searches in the app - that saves a lot of faff in the heat of the moment!

This app is atrocious. Difficult to buy tickets, prices are higher than buying on the internet. If you buy them on the internet you can't actually access the ticket to show it without downloading this app. However, if you purchased the ticket as a guest on the website there is no way to get it into the app and you end up trying to explain yourself to the person to exit at the gate. When you go to your account profile in the app, it takes you back out to the internet to login to see it. Useless!!

Works well in most circumstances, but I have some niggles about the way journeys are selected sometimes. In one case the app proposed a journey via Halifax, although the train was booked up. I had to make different searches to find out that there was an alternative route via Leeds which really should have been offered in the original search. Also I recently altered a booking. When searching for a replacement trip you are not offered the normal options such as Via and Avoid stations.

Usually an okay app.Something happened to it on 29 June 2026. Bought a Flexi Tickets and can't even activate it due to a glitch in the app. All the usual steps taken i. e remove app from phone and all related cache etc and restart to no avail. Currently, emailing Northern to sort it out or at least give me a refund. Having to pay again for single day tickets which is annoying. Not happy at all.

Very buggy. The time selected changes if you change the date or from a single to return. But it often changes to a random time. It also sometimes doesn't show some ticket options or prices and the off peak ticket contradicts itself. There have also been several times where the app has said my train is cancelled and it is either running completely fine or with delays but the app is just out of date. When it is completely fine is concerning though!
