Shonen Jump Manga & Comics

I like how easy the app is to use and how many manga it offers. Love the page-swipe format. It was cheap to pay for, but I ended up wanting to cancel my subscription until the manga I was reading released more in its series... luckily, cancelling is actually two clicks away and incredibly easy. Rest assured I will renew any time I want to keep up-to-date with my manga series :)

The app is generally very stable. The Catalog has a lot of old and new, but I have to dock points for arbitrary enforcement of "mature" content. A user shouldn't be required to go online when what they're subscribing to is an App. They also shouldn't split the Catalog between different services when the series all come from one publisher. But generally the service is worth the price. I read it religiously and have since it was in print.

Update for 2024, I keep getting loading errors. There will be a white page and then I have to go in and out to get it to load. This is while home on a very fast Internet connection. I love that they have updated the subscription model and have access to back issues. However, the format in the app is borderline unusable. No way to favorite series. No way to continue where I was reading before. When a series has 100+ comics, there is no way I am going to remember where I left off.

So, I've read manga using free apps for years, and I have to say that Shonen Jump needs to download one and check out their API to see how they do things. There's no watchlist feature for tracking your favorite series, no "Continue Reading" option to easily jump back in to a series they're diving into the archives for, and the notifications for new chapters dropping is very sporadic. SJ, please put a little more focus on this app. Digital reading is the future, don't fall behind the curve!

App could be simplified a lot more. after reading 1 chapter it takes you out of the whole book rather than continuing onto the next chapter. then you must manually click to unlock it. I think this is poor, & immersion breaking for the story. My other gripe would be how they have all these other "novels" you can sample but can't actually read. Only buy. Lastly random pages just don't load for a chapter, which is terrible cause I'm forced to skip them. I have full 5g service. Clearly the apps bugy
